Renew Child's New Zealand Passport You can renew a child's passport online. You must be the child’s parent or legal guardian. While applying online for renewal of your New Zealand passport you can also apply to renew your children’s passports online at the same time as you renew your own. This means you can submit and pay for the applications altogether as a family group. To renew your children’s passports you must be their parent or legal guardian. You will need to complete your adult application first, and then add the applications for your children. Only one adult can be part of the family group. Each application will be given its own reference number, which can be used to log into the group application.

- Child NZD$111.00 (includes $14.48 GST)
Urgent passport
- Processed in up to 3 working days.
- Adult NZD$382.00 (includes $49.82 GST)
- Child NZD$302.00 (includes $39.39 GST)
Applying from overseas
If you’re a non-resident for New Zealand tax purposes and apply online, GST is not included in your fee. However, you may have to pay a courier fee for delivery.

Who can be a Referee for New Zealand Passport?
A person must satisfy following conditions to act as a referee for issue of a New Zealand passport.
A person:
- who is 16 years or older
- has known you for more than one year, or since birth for a child under 12 months
- has a valid New Zealand passport (this can be current or expired, but not lost, stolen or damaged)
- is prepared to give personal details like their name, date of birth, passport number and
- is contactable
They must not be:
- related to you e.g. a cousin, parent, sister or brother
- your partner or spouse
- part of your extended family group
- living at the same address
