How much time does it takes to Renew an Indian Passport?

40 Working Days or 6 to 8 weeks is the indicative time frame provided by Indian High Commission in New Zealand for processing and reissue/renewal of India Passports in New Zealand.

Most of the reissue of passport applications are also processed/verified in India, as such it might take different time for different persons depending upon every applicant's circumstances. Indian High Commission in Wellington has provided a general time frame of 6 to 8 weeks or around 40 working days for reissue/renewal of Indian Passports. This is an indicative time period only and is same for child or adult passports. It may vary for each individual cases.

Time for reissue of Indian Passport in lieu of lost/stolen passport

The processing time for issue of duplicate/new passport in lieu of lost/stolen passports would take different time periods as situations vary widely. According to High Commission of India, Wellington It is difficult to spell out a standard time norm for this service. Normally, cases in which the photocopy of the lost passport or relevant details of the lost passport are available and readily traceable in the database of the Government of India, the time taken to replace the passports could be as little as six weeks. Other cases in which such details are unavailable or are not readily authenticated against a check of records in Government of India's database, more time would be required. In the latter cases, often the personal particulars including the photograph of the applicant is sent to the original passport issuing authority in India or abroad for authentication of the lost passport particulars. In cases where such passport details are either not available or the lost passport expired more than three years before, an additional verification by local police in India to prove the Indian nationality of the applicant would be essential. Such cases, needless to say, would take more time. Usually authentication by passport issuing authorities take six to eight weeks and verification by police takes as many as three to six months. Applicants should accordingly calculate their own time norm before making any travel plans. It always pay to provide as many documents as possible as an evidence of your identity, as it might lead to expeditious processing of your application. For documents required for such applications contact experienced Passport consultants of Visa Factory, Auckland, New Zealand.
