How to get first passport of an Indian Child born in New Zealand
Indian Parents of a child born in New Zealand must register the birth of their child with the High Commission of India in New Zealand within 1 year of child's birth before they can apply for first passport of that child. Such child shall be a citizen of India by descent, if either of the parents ( father or mother ) is an Indian citizen at the time of birth of the child and the birth of the child has been registered with The High Commission of India, Wellington within one year of the birth. Hello, my name is Sumita Sharma. We have 3 months old baby born here in New Zealand. Myself and my husband have Indian Passports. We have to urgently visit India. We want to apply for First Passport of our Indian baby born in New Zealand. Can you please help us?
VisafactorySays
Hi Sumita, Thank you for your query. If you or your husband are on a permanent residency visa in New Zealand then your baby born in New Zealand would be NZ citizen in such case you don't need Indian passport for the baby. You need to apply for NZ passport for the baby. However if you both are on temporary visas in NZ then you will need to register your child's' birth with Indian High Commission and also simultaneously apply for child's first Indian passport. We can help you prepare both applications as we have done this for number of Indian parents in New Zealand. Please call us on 020 47 47 47 7 or 09-889 11 33 or visit our office if you are in Auckland. If you are not in Auckland, you don't need to visit us, we can do everything online. Hope this would be of some help. Thanks.
