You can apply Indian Tourist Visa for a period from 6 Months to 5 years. Application is to be made online, then required to be downloaded, printed and sent to High commission of India in Wellington by courier or you can deliver it personally. Indian Tourist Visa is for foreigners who are neither of Indian origin nor their spouse, parents or grandparents are/were of Indian origin. You can either apply for Indian Tourist Visa or Indian E-Visa. Both visa are different visas. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR VISIT TO INDIA IS FOR LESS THAN 90 DAYS - YOU SHOULD APPLY FOR INDIAN E-VISA and not Indian Tourist Visa.
If you are a person of Indian origin holding foreign passport, or are spouse or child/grandchild of an Indian national/person of Indian origin then you are all eligible for Indian ENTRY VISA. ON INDIAN TOURIST VISA YOU CAN STAY FOR A MAXIMUM OF 90 DAYS CONTINUOUSLY
Tourist visa may be granted for a validity up to 5 years but the maximum continuous stay permissible on this visa is 90 days during each visit. Biometrics Requirements for Indian Tourist Visa
Enrolment of biometric features is required while applying for an Indian Tourist visa for a validity of more than 1 year and / or for multiple entry tourist visa. Biometric enrolment once done is valid for 5 years. Applicants below 12 yrs or more than 70 yrs are exempted from biometric enrolment. - Complete & download online application for Indian Tourist Visa on Government of India Visa Portal;
- Prepare a Banker's Cheque for applicable application fee;
- Attach 2 latest coloured photographs with light background (size: 2"X2" or 51mm X 51mm);
- Original Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into India;
- One self addressed prepaid courier envelope with signature required and tracking facility for return of your passport;
- If you have done everything correct, you should receive your Indian TOURIST Visa or a Visa Decline intimation within 15 to 20 working days (This time may be more in individual cases). If you have to travel to Indian urgently, contact Visa Factory to know if you are eligible for Indian E-Visa which you can get within 72 hours.

Indian E-Visa is a quick visa that you can get within 72 hours and is applied online and visa fee is also paid online by credit card. This visa does not require you to contact Indian Embassy or Indian High Commission. You get this visa by email. Indian E-Visa is only valid for 60 days stay from the date of entry into India and is NON-EXTENDABLE & Non-Convertible. As such you can not extend E-Visa.
